Hello! I hope you are doing well. Thank you for the comment you left on my blog a...while...ago!!! :)
Oh! I called the Scottish dances ''folk dances'' because I call Hungarian's dances ''folk dances'', and Greek dances their ''folk dances''. So I assumed it could be the same with Scottish dances! But I guess I was wrong. Yes, we ARE doing the same dances as you probably do! Between English, American and Scottish dances, Scottish are the best! :)
We have been dancing: Floers o' Edinburgh, Gie Gordans, Progressive Gordons, Circassian Circle, Jefferson and Liberty. (I suspect the latter 2 aren't Scottish though.)
And the new (wonderful!) dances we've been learning are...Yellow Stockings (so Scottish!), Down River to the Sea/Juice of Barley,(also Scottish), Little Brown Jug, Little Ramsay's Divey, I Care Not for These Ladies, Jacob Hall's Jig, The Rag, Gotham Jubilee.
I'm sure that's all for now. But they have been very fun to learn and dance! Do you know all of them? Are they all Scottish? We are looking forward to seeing you at the Conference! Here is a link to a friend's blog; he posts videos of the very dance practices we've been going to!
Thanks! We are glad that Jeremy found some dances. Flowers of Edinburgh and Gay Gordons are Scottish. We know Edinburgh. The girls know Juice of Barley from the English dances they attend. I am not familiar with the others! Our dances this year are listed on our Scottish Country Dancing page! We look forward to seeing you all at the conference as well! Enjoy your dancing! Blessings, Mrs. A
Hello! Hmmm...I guessed that several of the dances we are doing are more English than Scottish, but that's alright. I hope. ;) Anyway, Jeremy is doing a marvelous job teaching and calling them! The dance practices (lessons) are always productive and enjoyable. Flowers of Edinburgh is an old favorite of ours. :) And the music for Yellow Stockings sounds very Irish/Scottish and is a new favorite! Gie Gordons everyone LOVES as well!
You all are doing a great job learning all the Scottish/English dances! WE cant wait to see you all dance them at the CHEF ball! Were looking forward to it! Blessings, Mrs. A
Yes! We just had practice tonight and did the Flowers of Edinburgh and the girls know Gay Gordons. We have a partial list of dances for the year on our SCD page! I wonder if we do the Flowers of Edinburgh the same way you all do? Either way it is surely fun! Blessings!Mrs. A

I think a list of scottish dances would be fun to have to see if the ones we are doing are on it.
