The small pleasures of life!!!

We spent many a day around alot of influential, "important" and well known people recently. The Duggars, the Huckabees, Star Parker and Dr. Gina Loudon to name a few...but...tonight, as I sit in my warm cozy house with my grandboy by my side, and my second oldest son at home for a few days ...I am so happy and blessed. These are the true stars in my life!!!

Thursday, November 15, 2012

Just when it appeared we had fallen off of the face of the earth....here we are again! Well we did our patriotic duty to work as hard as could be to get Todd Akin elected for US Senate. We know him personally and he is one of the most principled, godly men you could ever have the pleasure of meeting. So whether it be voter fraud or just that there are more pro deathers than I thought...he did not win and it is not only a great loss for our country but for our nation. God help us.

But we fought the good fight and plunge ahead in the little things like RCC meetings etc. We put one foot in front of the other , knowing the Lord leads us and is Sovereign over the affairs of men. Voter fraud included.

So now we turn our minds and hearts to home. Taking care of neglected duties and preparing for the most precious time of year. The holidays. We look forward to seeing family and neglected friends! We are so blessed to have made new friends and family through the campaign. I wouldnt exchange the experience or the lasting friendships for anything in the world. The Lord is good and we are so thankful for it all.

A heartfelt 'Thank you'

Stand with Todd Akin to defeat Claire! Click here to donate now.
Todd Akin for Senate
On August 19th, the insiders abandoned our campaign and left us for dead politically. Since then, you've shown an outpouring of support, helping us shoot past our goal of $125,000 over the last week!

Friends, thank you!

You have succeeded in putting together a grassroots support network second to none, and with your help, we are absolutely going to win this thing!

Your support has been critical in making sure we have the resources to continue telling the truth about Claire McCaskill’s atrocious record – in this case, enriching herself, her friends and her family through the so-called “stimulus” bill.
We have asked a lot of you thus far, and we will certainly need your help again between now and election day - but today, I simply wanted to say “thank you,” and let you know just how much your support has meant to me and my family.

Thank you, and God bless!

Todd

Friend,

If you're up at this hour or you're reading this early Wednesday morning, now you know: the deadline passed, I'm not dropping out, and we're in this race to win.

With your help, we stood up to the DC party bosses. We're ahead in the polls. Conservative leaders are stepping up to help.

In short, momentum is on our side, and now it's time to move beyond the distractions the party bosses have caused, and focus on defeating Claire McCaskill!

Chip in today and help us take back the U.S. Senate from Claire and her liberal allies.

Thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Todd

Go Todd!!

Newspaper gleanings.....

Akin and McCaskill have different ideas on how the nation should be run.
No two people are more different than Claire McCaskill and Akin." He voted 30 times to repeal Obamacare, and if McCaskill had not voted for Obamacare, we would not have Obamacare today. McCaskill is attempting to paint herself as being a "moderate Senator." Why? Missouri is conservative.Akin has an A rating from the National Right to Life organization, McCaskill's rating was an F from the same group.Akin is Pro-Life and Claire McCaskill is the opposite.
The record speaks for itself.

McCaskill and Money

Todd Akin for Senate
Friend,

It took 227 years for our country to accumulate its first $7 trillion in debt. It took Claire McCaskill less than 6 years to help ring up $7 trillion more.

We’ve spent the past week being attacked by the DC Party Bosses, with some going so far as spending money to try and hurt our campaign. Meanwhile, Claire McCaskill, the $7 Trillion Senator, is flooding Missouri airwaves with negative ads that distort my own record, and don’t tell the whole story about her own.

Let’s put the $7 Trillion in new debt under McCaskill in perspective:
  • The total economic power of Missouri would have to be completely donated to the federal government for 27.5 years to pay for the debt she has rung up.
  • $6.9 trillion is equivalent to every citizen in Missouri being $1.1 million in debt.
  • Every Missouri citizen would have to give every dollar of their personal income (pre-tax) to the federal government for the next 30 years to pay $6.9 trillion in debt.
  • Its $22,000 in new debt for every man, woman and child in America in less than 6 years.
  • There are just under 7 billion people in the world. $6.9 trillion would mean every person in the whole world paying $1,000.
It is beyond irresponsible to saddle future generations with today’s spending – it’s downright unpatriotic.

Sincerely,

Todd

A funny.....

Our children mimic us don't they? Well today, when the 3 year old got out her computer (toy) she said "Oh no mommy! Where are my glasses I cant see like a bird!"....after wondering for a minute I realized that she was saying what I always say when I sit down at the computer...."Where are my glasses? I'm as blind as a bat!". She had it close!

We interrupt this campaign....

To remember Michael, who is Forever in the arms of Grace.....we remember and will not forget.

WERE DONE!

Friend,

Party boss and Washington insider John Cornyn today had two words for Todd Akin, and Missouri: “We’re done.”

Rather than swallowing their pride and admitting they were wrong to not help Todd Akin, Party Bosses are doubling down.

Mike Huckabee, on the other hand, had this to say about the Washington Party Bosses:
“They will turn their backs on Akin out of their arrogant pride because just as they were wrong about Rand Paul and Marco Rubio, they are being shown they are wrong on Akin? We need to rally every pro-life, pro-family, faith-based voter in America and tell them that the party obviously doesn't need them, but Akin does. If the party doesn't want us, then it's good to get that cleared up. I'll direct my time, money, and efforts toward candidates who will take a stand, and when they get elected, they won't be obligated to party bosses, but to God and their conscience.”

Today, we are starting our most ambitious fundraising goal yet: $70,000 raised by Saturday midnight to defeat the “$7 Trillion Dollar Senator” Claire McCaskill.

We need all hands on deck. Todd needs you now. Mike Huckabee needs you now, and like Governor Huckabee said – the Washington insiders and Party Bosses were wrong about Rubio, wrong about Rand Paul, and they’re just as wrong about Todd Akin.

If the Party Bosses are done with Missouri, then guess what? We are DONE with the Washington establishment!

Our Moneybomb begins today. $70,000 by midnight Saturday.

Will you stand with Todd Akin? Or will you let the Washington Party Bosses and Claire McCaskill win?

Power of the Cross

Reality Check....

It is astonishing
(Gleanings from the Inner Life of Ruth Bryan)

It is astonishing that such a worm should be
so favored with discoveries of His beauty--whom
glorified saints and angels gaze with ineffable
delight. But, after all, I know not a thousandth
part of what He is, and what I have in Him.

Surely Christ is all!

How little, how verily nothing, am I.

Oh! that my lips, my life, and every action--
might speak His praise and glorify His name,
who is a Heaven to me!

The Adams Clan Adventures....

I wish I would carry a video camera with us where ever we go. We do so many exciting things as a family!
For instance, just this weekend we spent all of Saturday with Congressman Akin and his lovely wife Lulli and got to meet and visit with the Duggar family. How many folks spend their afternoon doing that? (By the way Michelle Duggar is every bit of the sweet gem that folks say she is!)
I just stand amazed at all of the situations and circumstances we find ourselves in that we could never plan to have happen even if we wanted to!
So, the other day, in visiting with my dear friend, we were talking about socialization. She sends her kids to public school. That is fine but I had to say,
"Your kids dont get much socialization...they spend all of their time in the same place every day...they dont get out much you know.."
You couldnt believe the look of absolute astonishment on her dear face when I said that. I kinda turned the tables I guess! Isnt it true though? Our kids arent limited to the same 4 walls and same folks every day. They get around! Not that I believe in the 'socialization' argument but it was funny to use 'their' words back on them.
Actually when folks say to Brett "What about socialization?", he loves to say "Oh yeah, we arent socialists"....? LOL!
Just wanted to share our adventures and laughs with you all! May the Lord give you grace to disciple your children today!

Todd Akin for US Senate

Akin Statement on August Jobs Report

St. Louis, MO: This morning Congressman Todd Akin (R-MO) released the following statement regarding the August jobs report which showed that unemployment remains at 8.1% after almost four years of the failed economic policies of Barack Obama and Claire McCaskill:

"Americans continue to suffer economic hardship because of this administration's maniacal quest to return to the failed policies of the past that trap too many Americans in poverty. This morning the verdict is in: Americans are simply worse off today than they were four years ago.

"Claire McCaskill and Barack Obama have been making empty promises for nearly four years now and this morning's job numbers only confirm how empty their promises are. McCaskill and Obama promised that their stimulus bill would get the economy going again to create jobs, but instead unemployment has remained above 8% for the forty-third month in a row. Instead of creating jobs, the failed stimulus bill which McCaskill voted for and I voted against, has saddled our children and grandchildren with another $800 billion in debt bringing the nation's total debt obligation to over $16 trillion dollars.

"McCaskill and Obama continue to lead this country in the wrong direction. Their policies have driven up our national debt by 50%, the poverty rate up 10% and have left twenty-three million Americans across our country unemployed and underemployed. This election is not about fancy words and empty promises, this election is about the failed record of McCaskill and Obama. The unemployed and underemployed citizens of Missouri cannot afford another term of Claire McCaskill's failed economic policies."

A day in homeschooling.....

We got started a bit late this morning! What makes it late? Hmm, my expectations I guess! There is, after all, no homeschool rule that says we have to start at 8!
So we had a great day of getting work done, reading things I had planned and accomplishing other 'book' goals. Arent those days rare but fulfilling? So by the end of the day, the pastors wife stopped by and I had a nice visit. So, a good day of school AND adult interaction...all in the same day!
As she left I went to sit on the couch and finish up some record keeping....the 'littles' (3,5,7,11) suddenly came filing out of one room, arms loaded with toys and headed to another room. There they were....one with hair totally unbrushed~for 2 days it appears, one with a shirt on inside out, the next was so busy holding up his 'baggy' pants that he could barely keep his toys in his arms, and the 11 year old was wearing a sweater and a pair of shorts.........?
Well so much for all of my accomplishments for the day! It appears that in my zeal to accomplish the 'big' things, that I left the 'little' things undone! Well at least I did the important things, right? Spend time with the children, be it perfect/peaceful time or not, and we did bible which...if I do nothing else in a day, I hope to do that. This is the one subject that will have eternal value!
There is a lesson in there somewhere. He who is faithful in a little will be faithful in much...So it would seem I was not faithful in a 'little'...or was I ? I guess it is all where we put our priorities!

There is a rumor going around...

  We are Republicans to be sure. However there seems to be a bit o' a rift in the party at present. There is a growing theme in my little corner of the world and this is it;
Mr. Romney, if you want any support from us then we would
strongly encourage you to support Todd Akin. You are not even
the president yet and already you are not listening to the people.
Are you going to be  a president 'for the people' or 'for yourself'?
If you arent listening to us now, why would we think you would
listen to us later?
  So far today, we have gotten 6 emails from 'Mitt Romney'. More than a few persons that I know, responded to those emails saying ;
Until you support Todd Akin for US Senate, we will be sending all donations to his campaign and not yours. Your choice.....
Pretty powerful huh? You may think the Senate race has nothing to do with the presidential race. However I would beg to differ. Mitt Romney knows how much influence Senators have. Perhaps ol Mitt isnt as conservative as he portrays?

Party Bosses and other Tyrants...

Ok you already know what is going on in Fl at the convention right? I could barely sleep for wondering how it was all going to 'pan' out and prayed with fervency.
Here is what bothers me the most though...since the time of the War of Northern Aggression...when a 'party' wins by CHEATING, is that REALLY  winning? Can you walk away with your head held high and feel like you have ability, strategy and superior capability, when you got your prize by being a
CHEATER??? Cheating; this is what we teach our children NOT to do. Why? Because it is wrong, It is essentially stealing. You are taking something that isn't rightly yours, nor earned by you.
Can you really swallow that fact that a bus, on the way to the convention got LOST...just so happens there were 'voters' on that bus. How do these cheaters sleep at night? I guess as long as their 'ends justifies the means'...oh yes, but we are not to live that way.
  We are called to be holy, honest, upright, above reproach, not slanderers...the list goes on. Well , there is only one solution that I can think of;
When our children, lie cheat and steal like the party bosses are doing; DON'T let them get away with it!
  However, since our counterparts are teaching their children TO lie cheat and steal and that it is ok, we need to teach our children more;
Teach them to pray, ask for the Lords favor. Teach them to live above reproach so that the Lord will bless them. Then, at the end of the day when 'the bad guys win'...teach them that God is Sovereign over the events of men. God is faithful to preserve us in this crooked generation....

Todd Akin, Todd Akin, Todd Akin

Friend,
The party bosses are at it again. This time, Reince Priebus, Chairman of the Republican National Committee, came out and said that even if Todd were tied with Claire McCaskill, “we’re not going to send him a penny.”
Can you believe this?
This is a clear example of putting party power and political games ahead of the good of the country.
Luckily, there are many leaders in the Republican party who are speaking out against the party bosses and their attacks on Todd. Click here to watch what Mike Huckabee had to say over this past week:
If the party bosses aren’t going to give us a penny to defeat Claire McCaskill, then YOUR support is even more important.
Will you help Todd win in November?
We need YOU to chip in now and show the party bosses that this isn’t their race, but yours, and you’ve chosen to WIN.
Click here to donate now and ensure that Claire McCaskill doesn’t get reelected.
Sincerely,
Perry Akin

In Case you missed it...

I gotta say it. I believe it is very important for folks to know this....
Todd Akin, though he has been IN politics for many years, we who know and support Todd, and those who "DO NOT" support Todd,  agree on this one thing;
                                               Todd is NO Politician
Through all of his years as a representative and a congressman, in MO and Washington, he has never compromised. He is no 'insider'. He is first of all a man of God, and call him what you will....you cannot call him a politician.

LOTS OF HOOPLA!

Politics, wow. There is always something stirring in the political world isnt there?
This is as good a time as any for us to realize something or be reminded of it.... As Christians, we are not to be conformed to this world; therefore, whatever the secular news media says, is not 'gospel'. We need to be thinking Christians and we need to sort through the myriad of tv and internet info,to discover 'first source' information and documentation.
This is also a great thing to be teaching our children whom we are schooling. We dont want to raise them to think that watching the ten o clock news, gives them an accurate view of current events right? However , I fear that this is too easy to do.
Also, in politics; we may support one candidate over another. We may whole heartedly agree with one and be vehemently opposed to the other. However, we dont need to malign and demonize a political opponent, as a way of supporting the one we endorse. We need to be teaching our children to have a positive attitude. Mud slinging is such an unnecessary part of politics. I for one appreciate the positive campaigners , though they are few and far between.
So just another way for us to use 'current events' to train, school and disciple our children. I would love to hear your ideas for using the current 'campaign season', as a part of your schooling/discipling!
God bless~

Todd Akin for US Senate....

So, likely you have read the hoopla. If you have read this blog for any length of time, you have read a 'supporters' view. So now you get the opportunity for some dialog ....
What are your thoughts about congressman
Todd Akin?
What questions do you have about this candidate for US Senate?

Thursday, August 23, 2012

What are you????

Real life events have the effect of sifting out what we say we believe, as opposed to what we truly believe in our heart.
The Republican platform for over 30 years has been 'pro-life' and anti abortion. The unborn, are recognized as people with human rights as defined in Article 7. So what is the problem, and all of the hoopla about in regards to Todd Akin?
Well, the Lord is just doing some sifting among His people I think. A lot of Republicans just realized that they aren't really 'anti' abortion after all.
Are you pro life or NOT? Regardless of how, you, or your child or your neighbor came into being, they are still a valuable life. A life granted to you by our Creator. Your value is not determined on HOW you came into being. You re value is that you are one. Period.
It is very disappointing to me to see how 'addicted' our society is on media. It is like entertainment though most of it is full of death and horror and despair.
When Todd Akin began to be attacked for his statement, most people had not even seen nor heard what his actual comments were before they judged him. Many said 'so, what did he say wrong?" There was, granted, some who heard and really did get offended, but they had already been biased by the media. We need to be wise as serpents in this perverse generation and not depend on secular media to determine our thought processes.
And, politically speaking, the Republican party made a VERY BIG  MISTAKE, by not supporting their own. This is something that I for see them repenting of in the next few days.
Do politicians REALLY want to go down this road....the road where any little misinterpretation of what you say could cause you to have to step down? For mercy sake, our last president was overtly immoral and people still follow him around with adulation! Or how about the current president? He is clear about his anti American sentiments, yet no one can find anything wrong with what he says? Are you serious? Also, the man who created Obamacare actually said in an interview the other day; 'I don't think politicians should make health care decisions'. Really? Well obamacare is coming to a town near you folks and if you think it will work in your favor than you are clearly in the dark about the facts of socialized medicine. Ask anyone living in Canada. So where is the uproar of that deliberate lie from the current Pres?
Oh that the Lord would grant us to be wise in this perverse generation. I cant repeat it enough.
Practically speaking, this Senate seat that is up for grabs here in MO is a VERY pivotal one. It will determine, for one, the direction that our state is going 'liberal or conservative' , 'pro freedom or pro bondage to big govt'  CONSERVATIVE or LIBERAL. So where do you stand? And this not only affects the state of MO. Especially now.
By the grace of God, pro life advocates all over the country are stepping up to support Todd, support freedom, and support life. It is no easy job that Todd is going after. He is standing in the gap for all who love life and freedom. Please stand with us and pray for and support and promote Todd whenever the Lord provides you opportunity to do so.
The battle is about good/evil. May the GOOD win this one,  Sola Gratia~

TODD AKIN-Forgiveness

I

TODD AKIN

MRA FIREWIRKS
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 21, 2012
Contact: Chris Brown
President Missouri Republican Assembly
(314)346-5816
c.brown@sbcglobal.net
PRESS RELEASE:
Missouri Republican Assembly leadership Continues its support for Congressman Todd Akin.
Missouri Republican Assembly Leadership August 21st 2012 supports Congressman Todd Akin's unwavering belief in the sanctity of life while compassionately showing support for the victims of sexual assault and staunchly takes offense at President Obama's stand that forcible rape is equivalent to statutory rape.
Congressman Akin used the phrase "legitimate rape" in the sense of an actual, "forcible rape" as opposed to a claimed rape after consensual sex. He did not mean to imply that there is anything "legitimate" about some rapes compared to others or intend to be insensitive about the trauma that is experienced by women in a rape situation. We've all chosen a word with more than one meaning before and we censure those Republicans who refuse to call Bidden to task for his statements and yet throw one of our own under the bus by joining with Democrats in this misleading attack with ulterior motives. We call on all Republicans to accept the Congressman's heartfelt and contrite apology offered by an honorable man. After all, Claire McCaskill supports partial-birth abortion and the Democrat platform contains a pro-abortion plank.
Congressman Akin's comment on the rarity of pregnancy following rape was initiated by, "... From what I understand from Doctors." Whether or not this is true (and it probably is as indicated by well documented studies) is immaterial, as the Congressman was relating that which the experts had told him. And the Congressman should be commended for standing by his convictions and being better informed than the general public or liberal media. The real issue is that if you believe that life begins at conception and you have taken an oath to defend life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, then you have to keep your focus on protecting all innocent life or risk multiplying one tragic situation into three. (Two for the mother and one for the baby.) The MRA commends Todd Akin for publicly stating that the child should not be punished for the sins of the father. That we are all endowed by our creator with Liberty and the pursuit of happiness has little meaning when deprived of life.
The Republican leadership needs to grow a spine and disallow the Democrats, who always support their candidates even when they are wrong, to dictate our stance. By so doing we are now agreeing with the President that forcible rape and statutory rape are identical. While Todd may have been indiscreet in his word choice, he was not wrong in his facts. Todd can win despite this misstep. All Republicans will lose if they continue throwing their candidates under the bus because of a poor word choice. This is the first out, of the first inning in a long three months with many Democrat directed issues ahead. Issues and battles ahead which will be filled with lies and deception, for such are the tactics of our opponents. If we are unable to stand strong for our values it will be the Republican leadership that allows American expceptionalism to become a footnote in history.

No longer what we were before.....

We shall be like Him!
(James Smith, "The Love of Christ! The Fullness, Freeness, and Immutability of the Savior's Grace Displayed!")

We are predestined to be conformed to Christ's image. But now we groan, being burdened with sin. Now we are grieved, because . . .
our tempers are so unlovely,
our feelings are so carnal,
our minds are so wandering, and
our hearts are so depraved.

"But we know that when He appears, we shall be like Him--for we shall see Him as He is!" 1 John 3:2. We shall be exactly like Him--in every sentiment, feeling, and design! Then selfishness will be forever done away. There will be no more . . .
rebellion in the will,
hardness in the heart,
wandering in the affections,
guilt in the conscience, or
blindness in the understanding;
but every faculty will be perfect in holiness--and the whole soul filled with joy unspeakable and full of glory!

We shall be like Him! Then we shall be perfect in knowledge! "Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known."

We shall be like Him! Then we shall be perfect in love! We shall love God perfectly and supremely. We shall love all who love Christ, even as we love ourselves.

We shall be like Him! Then we shall be perfect in happiness! Every wish will be gratified, every desire fulfilled, every prayer answered.

We shall be like Him! Then we shall be glorious!
Is Jesus enthroned? We shall sit with Him on His throne.
Is Jesus crowned? He will give unto us an unfading crown of glory!

"But we know that when He appears, we shall be like Him--for we shall see Him as He is!"
(Looking forward to that great and glorious Day~the Adams)

WALES!

I have never heard our girl so excited as she was when she drove into WALES! Wales is dear to her heart though she had never been there before. Some of our earliest ancestors are traced to Wales. The great line of Kendricks of England, actually find their roots in Wales as Cynwyck...sp? Anyways, that is one of the older Welsh names.
Also, there are some missionaries, the Funnels , who serve in Wales and our family follows their blog and updates diligently.
We were so excited to learn about the famous Welsh Revival and renewed our appreciation for the song; "Here is love". Also a family from a church we like to visit when we are able, have a son that moved to Wales, married a Welsh girl and is now pastoring! So, it is just a suspicion but this is perhaps our girls 'first' visit to Wales...I expect she is already planning to go again!
We wish she would have had time to make some contacts there! We would love to connect regulary with someone living there!

My children are SCATTERED!!!

One daughter in Denmark,
One daughter in London,
One son in CA,
One son in TX!!! You know what that means, if the are scattered then this mama is at home on her knees! Praying for safety and mercy and grace for myself as well as them!
The saying is true...they grow up much too fast!
And I too am a 'child' who is 'scattered'! I left my dear parents in CA to move out here to this fine state!
I am sure my children miss me because I MISS MY MOM! Aren't mothers wonderful? Mine is and I am sure that it is high time she come out for a visit! Sigh! Looking forward to that DAY when we are all together at HOME.

Interesting quote....

From Dr. Mercolas website this morning. It is worth pondering!
"The question is, what kind of food system do YOU want? If every American decided to not eat at a fast food restaurant tomorrow, the entire system would collapse overnight. It doesn’t take an act of Congress to change the food system. All that is required is for each and every person to change their shopping habits.
“That’s why our slogan is, “We’re healing the land one bite at a time.” We want people to understand that when you eat, that is a decision that affects the landscape our children will inherit,” Joel says. “You can make that decision independent of politics and everything else. You could make that decision three times a day. And there are thousands of farmers like us (many of them smaller than us) around the country and around the world, that are waiting to serve that clientele "
SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT:)

Were Up and Running!

Well we are back online! So nice to have a functional computer again...though I enjoyed all of the extra time I had with the children when it was 'down and out'!
Such a busy time! We made it through the primary! Yay for Todd Akin (US Senate) and James Sigman for Sheriff, Shane Shoeller, Crowley for Sheriff in Shannon county, ....Many others are to be congratulated and lamented...
Things don't want to seem to slow down for us! We are getting ready for school, the Awana program at our church, continuing on the campaign trail, and dancing and expecting guests...following our daughters progress in London/Wales! Whew!
We hope all of our followers are well and blessed and we look forward to catching up with everyone!
Blessings, The Adams

Please vote!!!! The Primary is Coming!!!

Im not sure what your plans are for this Tuesday...but by the grace of God, may one of them be to get out and vote!
We may have to endure a bit of heat, or perhaps we will need to vote after work and get home late~time is such a precious commodity...or you may need to lose an hour of sleep and get up early to vote before meeting your other responsibilities of the day.
Whatever sacrifice you need to make on Tuesday in order to vote..it is worth it. It will not cost us our life, liberty or property to vote. AND if you vote it will stay that way!
Please exercise your duty as a citizen and vote! There are good men who are on the ballot waiting to be elected. Waiting for the opportunity to fight for, and secure your freedoms.
  God bless America~

Were down and out!!

Yep, the computer FRIED! So we can do but little on this ancient one! It is even difficult to follow the blogs we follow! Slow! But we hope that all are having a great summer, that your gardens are producing, and that your a/c is cooling!
We got out a/c fixed!! Thanks James!
Time to plant the fall garden now!! Hard to believe this heat will become snow in not so many months!!!

A Season of 'going out'....

The air went out...and boy is it hot hot hot...
The fridge went out...but the freezer part still works! Yay! And our church is very gracious to give us ice when we need it to keep the milk cold!
The computer went out. I am currently on a very old slow one....thank you for it though Royer family!
Oh and we have a flat tire on each car...does that fall under the category of 'going out'?? Why not:)
So this is our 'going out' season. We hope nothing else goes out!
With the computer nearly too slow to do much in my already limited time, I have a lot more time during the day! How is it that I have more time with a slower computer? Lack of patience of course! I am not on here nearly at all now so I have much more time! It is amazing the things I can get through the day without looking up!
Today was very productive. Made tooth powder, with stevia this time and we like the taste better.
I made dish soap, which I like very much except for the lack of bubbles.
I made laundry detergent for the first time and it cures overnite so Ive not used it yet. Ill let you know if it cleans! Im thrilled about the 'no chemicals' part of it! If I like it, it will save a bundle of money as well!
  Hope everyone is staying COOL....!

John Welch

On God's Everlasting Love
John Welch

John Welch (c.1570-1622) was the son-in-law of John Knox, the Scottish Reformer. His ministry, especially during his time in Ayr, was greatly blessed of God. His son, Josias, ministered in Templepatrick in Co. Antrim in Northern Ireland and is burried there. Josias' son, also John, was a notable minister in Irongray, Scotland, during the latter part of the Covenanting times of persecution.

First, It is a ground whereupon thou layest no less than the endless salvation of thy soul; so the believer sees a condemnation, then he sees no remedy in the law, but in the gospel he hears that the believer shall never go to condemnation; faith then takes thy soul, and says to it, Thou art undone for evermore except thou believest. The heart answers, Hereon I lay my salvation on the certainty of this promise. Then faith answers, and says, I dare pledge the glory of God that thou shalt never perish. Next, faith will take thee to hell, and make it present to thee; to heaven, and it will make it present to thee; it will take thee to the decreed counsel of God, and make it present to thee; faith never casts thee off his word; the word says, Thou, Thou wast loved before all eternity; faith says, I believe. I see that the word says, The believer is justified; and faith says, I believe the word says, There is a crown of glory laid up for the poor sinner; faith says, I see that, and I will wait patiently for it; faith will lead thee to the very incarnation of Christ, and make it present unto thee; faith will do more for thee; for it, first, will make thy ground sure; 2dly, It makes things eternal present; 3dly, It makes thee stand, and set thy foot as an armed man against all the speats [floods] of the terrors of God against thee, so it gars [makes] thee stand, for it is the buckler that quenches all the fiery darts of the devil; thou hast that jack that will bide the proof of the cannon, suppose thou shouldst say, ' The Lord has set me up as a mark to shoot at,' suppose thou shouldst say with David, Psal. xxii. 1. 'The Lord has forsaken me,' and suppose thou shouldst say with Heman the Ezrahite, Psal. lxxxviii. 15. 'I suffer the terrors of God from my very youth;' yet faith will gar thee stand against all these, for it will say to thee, That the love of God is unchangeable, 'suppose thou shouldst slay me, yet I will trust in thee;' for a man that believes may have strong battles, and he must 'fight a good fight;' for the winds will blow, and the storms will set on the house, and faith must hold it up.

Besides this, faith is called, 'The evidence of things not seen,' it is the character and evidence of our inheritance; I have that blood sealed up to me, I have the Spirit within me, therefore I know this heritage belongs to me; as for the author, it is evident it is given you freely to believe, so it is the gift of God. God opens the heart of Lydia, and she believes. Faith is the work of God, 'look up to him who is the author and finisher of your faith.' He believed, and therefore he spake. So it is the Spirit, sent from the Father and the Son, that works faith: this is the thing that makes a man to believe. Thou wilt say, if thou hadst faith thou wouldst never doubt, but when thou lookest into thyself, and missest the power of believing, thou doubtest: but thou shouldst not do so, but thou shouldst look up to heaven, for it is as impossible for thee to believe, as it is to thee to open the eyes of the blind; for this power of believing is not within the compass of nature; for it was a mystery to the very angels, till it was revealed in the gospel by faith, says the apostle, 'which is according to the operation of God that raised up Jesus from the dead to life;' so that same power must work in thee the power of believing. The law will say, 'Do, and thou shalt live;' but it will never give thee power to do: but the gospel says, 'Believe, and thou shalt live,' and with the same breath it draws down the arm of God to thy soul, and gives thee power to believe. Next, the law requires perfection; but the gospel requires no more but faith in an honest heart, believing in sincerity, suppose it be mixt with doubtings, and suppose there be a hell in the nook of thy heart, as the apostle says, Rom. vii. 24. 'Who shall deliver me from this body of sin;' this was his misery: but he had not sold himself to sin; therefore he said, he consented not to it. What more? The gospel descends to thy infirmity, that if thou hast no more but a reiking tow [smoking flax], and if thou hast no more but an earnest desire to believe, and if thou hast no more but that thou canst pray for faith, then thou hast the same consolation of the believer.

No--keep it!

(
J.R. Miller, "Intimate Letters on Personal Problems" 1914)

In 2 Corinthians 12:7-10, Paul tells of a wonderful experience which he had. He had some great suffering which he called "a thorn in the flesh." He does not say what it was--but evidently it was some physical pain, some think epilepsy, some think a trouble with the eyes, some think a nervous affliction. No matter what it was--it was very painful and seemed to interfere with the apostle's usefulness.

Three times, therefore, he besought the Lord that this thorn in the flesh might be taken away. But the answer was, "No--keep it! My grace is sufficient for you--for My strength is made perfect in weakness." Then Paul learned this wonderful secret--that the physical suffering which was so hard to bear--if accepted by him, brought him a corresponding measure of the strength of Christ!

As you read on, you find the apostle saying that he now rejoiced in his infirmity, because the power of Christ thus rested upon him. That is, the suffering, as keen and as terrible as it was--brought Christ nearer to him, brought more of Christ's strength into his life, and thus fitted him for larger spiritual usefulness!

You can apply this to yourself. You have asked God to remove your thorn in the flesh--and He has not done it. But let me assure you that the words which the Lord spoke to Paul--He speaks to you also. His grace is sufficient for you. His strength is made perfect in your weakness. That is, you will get more of Christ's help in your life, because of the suffering which you are enduring, than if the suffering were to be taken away--you then receiving less of Christ's help, because needing less.

Update on the syrup....

To quote the 5 year old, in regards to how he liked the syrup. He said " I love it times infinity pi!"...wow. Quite a commendation! Now where he learned about infinity and pi...Ill have to check on that!

Woops! Got distracted....

As you know , we have been on a 'eat healthier', 'eat organic', 'eliminate sugar' diet. Oh and of course I make as many things as I can to save money and eliminate chemicals... Sooo, I told hubby "Please dont buy any syrup! Im going to make some, the kids love it!"...
So we bought the big bag of Stevia, had the clean syrup bottles sitting on the counter for 2 days...finally today in the chaos of not big kids, only the littles at home with the blessed addition of the grandboys...I decided to make the long awaited syrup.
I got online and typed in 'Syrup Recipe' and made up a BIG batch of the first one I saw...problem??? As I was filling up the syrup bottles I espied the big bag of Stevia setting untouched upon the shelf! AHH!! I had totally forgotten to use Stevia instead of sugar! Bummer!
Old habits die hard I guess:(. Oh well, at least there isnt added corn syrup.
Remember as Spurgeon says, "the old man is legally dead not actually dead"! May I have more success in my spiritual life than I had in my kitchen today!!!

SAVE MONEY!! YEAH!

Ok, I really like to save money...but more than that I like to eliminate as many chemicals from our lives as possible.
I was researching online where I could buy 'natural soap' in bulk...well many 'bulk' soap bases are full of the same chemicals  you find in most commercial products that you buy at the store. So then I wondered...can I buy 'good' bar soap and make 'liquid hand soap' from it!
The answer was yes!! With bar soap, water and glycerine... Glycerine? Hmm, just another thing to buy.
  So when I was online checking out a published hand soap recipe, I saw a comment with JUST the liquid hand soap recipe I was looking for;
  Here it is:
Ingredients
1, 4 oz. bar of Kirks Castille soap
1 gallon of water (distilled if you prefer)
3 T salt with which you will make a salt solution
The salt solution is made by dissolving the 3T of salt in 1 cup of very hot water.

So get your pot, and put in your gallon of water. Then pour in your bar of grated soap. Warm this until the soap is melted. Do not boil the mixture at any time during the process.
Then, whisk in your salt solution. Remove from heat and let  your mixture cool. It will thicken upon sitting. Thats it!!
So I spent 1.59 for the bar of soap at the store. I used distilled water that my friend made for me, and I chose to use Himalayan salt because it has no chemicals like 'regular table salt' and it does contain over 70 minerals that are good for you if they go through your skin!
Although my motivation was to find a 'chemical free' soap, I ended up saving a LOT of money!
I got a gallon of hand soap for less than $2!!! Cant beat that!
Also, if you care to, you can add any essential oil to your hand soap. Tea tree oil to kill germs or lavender for scent!
As well, since I wasnt sure how long the hand soap would sit around...so for good measure I added 3 large vitamin E pills as a preservative!
Happy clean hands and happy wallet to you!

Happy Birthday to....me!!

Happy Birthday to me,

Todd Akin for U.S Senate

Some of the Akin team.
What a great time we had at the parade in Marshfield on the 4th of July! It was such a pleasure for me to meet Mr. Akin in person! Brett and the girls had already done so of course, being on his team and having gone to the state convention earlier this year.

All of the Akin team were full of energy and passing out popsicles, gum and best of all the 'Conservative fighter jets', as Brett dubbed them! They are the coolest paper airplanes you have ever seen and I have never seen one fly better! If you would like one, leave us a comment and let us know!

This Marshfield parade was only one of several parades going on in the state. Of course this was the funnest because Todd was there! It was so exciting to see him repeatedly stop in front of  crowds and say "Hi there, my name is Todd Akin and I'm running for US Senate against Claire McCaskill"...the crowd would cheer and hoot and clap when he said that! So many people came up to him and shook his hand and said 'Thank you sir!! So I believe it is safe to say that he has a LOT of support in these here parts!

If you would like to learn more about Todd Akin, you can visit his website here; http://www.akin.org/ . Happy Independence!
