A Childlike Faith

Have you heard of "The Proof of God Conference"? Well Creation Todays, Eric Hovind and Paul Taylor are putting on a conference at the end of October of this year. This is not a 'plug' for the event...this is a story of an act of faith of our 16 year old daughter. (The picture of course is not her, that is our little one:)
I dont know about you, but our children (because we dont watch tv) have very peculiar heros and celebrities...like, Voddie Baucham, Kevin Swanson, and my daughter Abi's absolute favorite of all, Eric Hovind.
Well she is planning a trip to this conference that there is nooo way she will ever be able to attend! But , she has the budget, mileage, map, hotels, costs etc all worked out and now she says she just has to pray about it! Isnt that a beautiful act of faith? With it being over 1000+miles away and us on a fixed income there is no way...yet she is free to appeal to her Heavenly Father and ask away tho!
May we all have such faith to approach the throne of grace and make our request known to God!
What an example to me this morning:)

God is so good to allow us to see some fruit of our labors.
So no TV at all? We don't watch TV, but we have one only for videos. We do really good for a while about only watching a few movies a week and then it seems we get in a rut where we are allowing them to watch more than their share. Of course it's easy to justify that we our watching is so limited compared to the world, but we do see the consequences too... children who need to be entertained, ones that seem to be over stimulated and not reaching for the books as much but begging for another movie. For us it is a balancing act. Trying not to over do it. CONSISTENCY is something that I struggle with. I am praying that God will transform me in this area. I know He is able!!!
Sorry for the long-winded comment. Would love to hear your opinion concerning this topic (when you have the time. :))

Good morning! Saying 'no tv' is misleading now that I read that! We have dvds and many of them! We seem to have seasons where we hardly watch movies at all...then like this morning, a little face woke me up at 7 and said "Mommy can I watch a movie?" I thought...ugg,when did this happen? Sigh! So that was my big red light that Ive been using movies to be the babysitter! No excuse I know, but sometimes it seems to happen! Between sickness, building & birthdays, movies are too easy to employ as a distraction! You are right it is a balacing act...an ongoing act of balancing...not a one time deal! Thanks so much for your comments! Blessings!

Or when little ones are sick and need some down time (that is usually when we fall off balance. :)
Thanks for the response.

Yes we just got over the flu here! Our biggest challenge is building projects. When we were installing our double doors and 5 foot windows, it was a comfort to know that the littles were glued to a movie in the other room! Surely there is always a higher standard and a better way, this is just where were at:) Thanks~
